On August 9th 2008, Lotus Outreach International held a ‘Sari Soiree’ fundraising benefit in Beverly Hills, California. The event was undoubtedly a huge success for Lotus Outreach. The evening was filled with exciting entertainment including an Indian Fashion show, live music performed by sitarist Rama, fabulous food, an eclectic silent auction and shopping for a good cause. Special guests included Khyentse Norbu, Founder and Chairperson of Lotus Outreach International; Oung Chanthol, Founder of the Cambodian Women's Crisis Center; actress Parminder Nagra (Bend It Like Beckham, ER); Lotus Outreach Board Member and former supermodel, Penelope Tree; and our hostess for the evening, actress Donna Kimball. In addition to the fantastic food and entertainment, Lotus Outreach is pleased to announce that we raised over $35,000 that evening! Such an outcome will have a tremendous impact on our ability to fund existing programs as well as expand our services and increase the number of human lives we can improve. By partnering with grassroots organizations in India and Cambodia, Lotus Outreach is able to get the most value from our donor dollars. For example, a mere $10 will provide an entire year of non-formal education to a quarry laboring child in rural India. We would like to offer a special thank you to the 100+ volunteers, supporters and attendees who made this event possible. It is their committed support and global vision that allows Lotus Outreach International to continue its important work renewing hope and restoring dreams for the vulnerable children of India and Cambodia.
